Comparative Analysis of Slamming Phenomenon Prediction between U and V Hulls using Strip Theory Method

Choosing the right hull shape is important in designing a ship, for example, U-section or V-section of hull. The will affect various aspects, such as design, resistance, seakeeping, structure and production. ship must be properly designed so that it can operate according to ship’s mission. From seakeeping aspect ship's motion at sea, difference result different motions dynamic effects slamming phenomenon. Based on cases, this study analyzed probability between U V hulls. Both hulls were made based Formdata almost all parameters same. Parameters cannot forced same are WSA (wetted surface area), (coefficient waterplane (distance keel buoyancy), where those determine results. calculation RAO (operator amplitude response) was obtained using strip theory method which assisted by Maxsurf Motion software. results became input probability. show has higher occurrence than hull, with values ranging from 20% 35%. Therefore, get more frequent loads, potential have structural failure (fatigue)
